Post 4: Design

Hello everyone, today I will tell you a little about the career I am studying. Currently I am a second year student of the design career at the University of Chile, and never in my life did I imagine that I would be studying a degree like this, a bit "artistic" because I was always a very studious student who excelled in almost all subjects, especially those that the rest hated. Even my family always thought that I would study a recognized career, like law or medicine, but the truth never interested me.

Design is not a highly valued career here in Chile, the truth is that few know what a designer does, and much of the problem is due to the limited dissemination of information about the career, which is why some confuse the designer whit an artist or with a publicist haha. The other part of the problem is that the race is complex and multifaceted, since design can work with many other disciplines and that is the coolest thing, because if you get bored of doing something you can reinvent yourself and work in another context.

Being a designer is helping to solve problems and that is one of great benefits for those who need it. But if we talk about personal benefits, I think that being able to enjoy creating and doing is one of them, since there will always be something new to do and it will hardly become a routine.

  1. Hello Dani, as they say "an artist does not work, an artist has fun".I love a design career. As you mentioned, in Chile design is undervalued. Can you imagine one day designing world-renowned brands like "Coca Cola"? Simply art :))
